Sultan Bayezid II, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire sent his navy to evacuated the Jews from Spain after the proclamation of the Alhambra Decree expelling the Jews from Spain in 1492 and resettled them throughout the Ottoman Empire, giving them citizenship.
