Missak Manouchian was a French poet of Armenian descent. Orphan, he was brought up by a Kurdish family and eventually illegally emigrated to France. In 1943, he became one of the leaders of the FTP-MOI and he is credited with the sabotage of Nazi operations such as the mobilization and Deportation of labor under the Obligatory Work Service
